Fresh, cheerful, summery and closely associated with the beach and the sea: the sturdy sailor stripes of Armor Lux are a familiar sight in our collection. The French fashion label was born in 1938 in Quimper at the Brittany coast: founder Walter Hubacher thought it was high time for socks and underwear of high quality. In 1940, he bought the first knitting machine and in the following years the brand grew steadily. 1970 was the year of the breakthrough: Armor Lux presented additional clothing for the first time. The characteristic stripes were visible in navy sweaters, fashion shirts, polo shirts, hats and scarves. The global fashion world became familiar with the brand and in 1997 Armor Lux created a special children's collection. It was the confirmation of a broad-based, luxury brand: today both the
French National Police, the SNCF train staff and the Paris airport staff wear outfits of Armor Lux. The brand is very active in the biological and social involvement. In 2009, Armor Lux was awarded a certification for the conscious production and distribution of organic cotton products. It also promotes fair trade and sustainable waste management: in 2011 the company was certified and accredited for its policies relating to social responsibilities. Armor Lux has an innovative staffing management and was awarded for its involvement in the local Breton employment, education, arts and culture. Meanwhile, the fashion label has three product locations, a private laboratory, 550 employees, 1,500 new models per year and more than 40 own boutiques. For us, it’s the absolute proof that sustainability and commitment pays off!
